Conn. Dealer Charged in Service Contract Scam
A used-car dealer is accused of pocketing more than $13,000 in vehicle service-contract sales, leaving customers without the protections they though they purchased.
HARTFORD, Conn. — A used-auto dealer is facing larceny charges after Department of Motor Vehicles inspectors discovered that he had collected more than $13,000 from customers over a period of six months by selling them invalid service contracts, reports NBC Connecticut.
Daniel Garcia, who owns Danny’s Auto World Sales and Service, sold a dozen customers extended service contracts administered by Car Protection Plus. The F&I product provider, however, said it never received the payments.
