AutoNation Inc., the largest new and used auto dealer in the United States, is starting a program to publicize to consumers its commitment to transparent, ethical financing practices, according to AutoNation CEO Mike Jackson.
In a column for Automotive News, Jackson defended the importance and convenience of in-dealership financing. He said it is appropriate for the dealership to be paid for this necessary service.
To make car buyers aware of AutoNation's financing policies, the company is incorporating the AutoNation Pledge into its over 286 stores. The Pledge includes the disclosures recommended by the National Automobile Dealers Association. Furthermore, it says that customers can get their own financing and that they don't need to buy additional aftermarket products to get financing or a lower interest rate.
The Pledge will be displayed in dealerships and promotional materials, and each customer will receive a copy, said Jackson.
