After 12 years with the company, Mazda’s President and Chief Marketing Officer Don Romano resigned on July 3. In his stead, Shuseke "Kory" Koreeda, formerly executive vice president of Mazda Canada, assumed the position as interim president.

Mazda spokesperson Jay Amestoy confirmed Romano’s resignation, but the company furnished no further details on the marketing execs departure.

Romano joined Mazda in 2000 after a 14-year stint in marketing and sales operations for Nissan and Infiniti. With Mazda, he first held the position of zone ops manager for three years. In 2003, he moved up as regional general manager for the Western region and was named vice president of marketing in 2005. He assumed the position of president and CMO in March 2006.

The announcement came a week after Thomas Pixton departed Mazda Motor Corp’s board following its June 27 annual shareholder’s meeting. Ford Motor Co. has since appointed a replacement for the vacated board seat.
