Ford Credit Leasing Business to Grow
Ford Credit Chairman Mike Bannister said he expects the company's leasing business to rise in 2005 to about 15 percent of retail business. Leasing was about 11 percent of Ford Credit's Ford, Lincoln and Mercury volume in North America through September 2004, according to Automotive News.

Bannister said new vehicles with better residuals should help leasing gain popularity. Automotive Lease Guide issued the 2005 Ford Five Hundred Sedan a residual value of 47 percent after 36 months, said Ford spokesperson David Reuter. The 2005 Freestyle sport wagon received a residual of 48 percent. In contrast, the Ford Taurus' residual value is about 30 percent.
