GM Cuts Sticker Prices, Dealer Discounts

DETROIT -- In a move toward value-based pricing, General Motors is cutting sticker prices on vehicles that account for 80 percent of the automaker's total sales volume, reported Automotive News.

DETROIT -- In a move toward value-based pricing, General Motors is cutting sticker prices on vehicles that account for 80 percent of the automaker’s total sales volume, reported Automotive News.


The dealer discount on some product lines will also be reduced to compensate for the price changes. According to Mark LaNeve, vice president of North America Vehicle Sales, Service and Marketing, cuts to dealers’ margin ranges from zero to three points, but still give dealers room to negotiate.

"Dealers have been asking us to do this," LaNeve told Automotive News. "They say we’ve got to build aspiration for the products and the brands."
