General Motors Corp. is asking its 7,300 dealerships throughout the United States and Canada to use computer systems and services from either Reynolds and Reynolds Co. or Quorum Information Technologies Inc., according to an Automotive News report.
General Motors Corp. is asking its 7,300 dealerships throughout the United States and Canada to use computer systems and services from either Reynolds and Reynolds Co. or Quorum Information Technologies Inc., according to an Automotive News report.
The initiative could affect thousands of dealers that may be using another vendors’ computer system. It may also have a significant impact on Reynolds’ rival ADP Dealer Services. Currently Reynolds and ADP service 3,000 GM dealerships apiece.
GM says that major savings resulting from the volume rates it has negotiated will hopefully ease the disruption that changing systems may cause. The company, however, gave no details on a dealership’s potential savings.
Reynolds and Reynolds and ADP lead the dealership management systems market, with a combined share of 80 percent of dealerships in the U.S.
