GM, Ford Add $500 to Their Deals for Popular Line of Full-Size Pickups
General Motors Corp. and Ford Motor Co. are tossing additional cash on the hoods of some of their most profitable vehicles, according to the Detroit News.
Starting Jan. 23, the automakers added $500 to existing $2,000 rebates on full-size pickup
trucks. The deals will run through the end of the month, the News said.
GM was first to beef up its rebates and Ford quickly matched the offer. "It's a market
where there's a lot of competition," said GM spokesman Jeffrey Roegner. "We are remaining aggressive."
The $2,500 rebates will be available on GM's Chevrolet Silverado and Avalanche, and GMC Sierra. Ford is offering the deal on most F-150 models. It is not clear whether DaimlerChrysler
AG's Chrysler Group will follow with bigger rebates on Dodge Ram pickups, which are now available with up to $2,000 cash back, according to the News.
