SOUTHFIELD, Mich. -- GMAC Insurance's Protection Plan team introduced a specially priced service contract "wrap" for the 2004 Chevrolet Aveo.

The team developed the service contract wrap to complement the 2004 Aveo's expanded warranty coverage. The original 3-year/36,000-mile period was expanded to include powertrain coverage for 5 years/60,000 miles. The wrap lets customers enhance their coverage up to a full Major Guard level for the warranty period or beyond at a reduced price.

Also, prices on plans for 11 four-wheel drive SUVs have decreased because GMAC Insurance MIC Group reclassified these vehicles to the level of their two-wheel drive models. The reclassified vehicles are the Chevrolet Avalanche, Blazer, Tahoe, Trailblazer/Trailblazer XT and Suburban; and the GMC Envoy/Envoy XL, Envoy XUV, Jimmy, Yukon, Yukon XL and Suburban. MIC made the revisions on the basis of in-depth analysis of warranty and service contract loss experience data.

This affects all GM protection plan contracts sold for these SUVs on or after March 1, except in Florida and Mississippi. After the reclassification, the average dealer cost of the most popular contract -- a 60-month/75,000-mile Major Guard Plan with $0 deductible -- dropped by as much as $270 or 24 percent for these vehicles.

GM dealers can contact their GMAC representative for more information.
