HANOVER, Md.
— Hudson Cook LLP, a nationwide provider of legal compliance services for the
financial services industry, announced that the
American College of Consumer Financial Services
Lawyers awarded the prestigious Senator William
Proxmire Lifetime Achievement Award to one of its founding partners, Tom
Hudson.
The award is reserved for attorneys who make only the most significant contributions to the practice of consumer financial services law. In the history of the award, it has only been given to two other attorneys that are currently in active practice.
The College’s Board of Regents presented the award on April 18, 2009, at its annual dinner, held this year at the Terminal City Club in Vancouver, Canada.
The award includes a $3,000 donation from the College that the award recipient may direct to an organization that is active in promoting the public interest in the area of consumer financial services.
Hudson has named the Legal Aid Bureau Inc.’s Foreclosure Legal Assistance Project as the donation recipient. The Legal Aid Bureau, Inc. was founded in 1911 by visionaries who understood the vital importance of civil legal representation for those individuals and families with the fewest resources and the least influence and power in our society. The organization provides free civil legal services to Marylanders with limited incomes.
Robert Cook, managing partner of the firm, said, “I’m both proud and pleased that the College has selected Tom for this award, and the firm is honored by his selection. The College is comprised of the finest consumer financial services lawyers in the nation. To be recognized as a leader by the College is of particular significance.”
Among his other achievements, Hudson created the monthly legal reporting services CARLAW and HouseLaw, a monthly newsletter for auto dealers, Spot Delivery, and authored or authored and edited three books on the topic of auto sales, finance and leasing. He is a frequent speaker at industry gatherings, and his articles appear in many industry publications.
