WESTWOOD, Mass. -- LoJack Corp. has completed the first phase for offering its stolen vehicle recovery system in Italy. Working with The Ministry of Communications, LoJack has secured the rights to use a single radio frequency to operate its system and has been awarded approval of its stolen vehicle recovery network. Initial efforts will focus on the Rome region.
In the second phase, LoJack is working to secure an operating partner who will be responsible for LoJack marketing, sales and installation in Italy. The third phase entails completing the network for operational readiness.
Italy represents LoJack’s seventh European country and 27th international market.
"We are very pleased about the prospect of adding Italy to our global stolen vehicle recovery network," said LoJack Chairman and CEO Ronald Rossi. "Italy is the fourth largest auto market in Europe with 2.5 million new cars sold each year, 200,000 vehicles stolen in 2003; only 44 percent recovered."
