Mercedes-Benz Sees a Boost in August Sales
Mercedes-Benz USA followed suit with many other top OEMs, reporting solid sales gains for August.
MONTVALE, N.J. — Sales for Mercedes-Benz in August climbed 11.3 percent from a year ago, with 20,557 new passenger vehicles sold. In the first eight months of 2012, the German automaker delivered 168,462 units — a record high for Mercedes.
Including sales with its smart and Sprinter models, Mercedes-Benz USA retailed a record of 23,349 vehicles, a 13.1 percent jump over last year. The collective total also boosts the year-to-date grand total to 188,351 units, up 17.9 percent vs. a year earlier.
Top sellers for the month included the C-, E- and GLK-Class models, with the C-Class leading the way in sales with 6,519 units sold, a 37.9 percent increase from August 2011. The E-Class sales totals for the month reached 4,515, down 19.8 percent from the year prior, while the GLK-Class sold 2,775 units, up 43.6 percent.
