NADA Supports Eco-Terrorism Bill That Would Jail Dealership Attackers
The National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA) is strongly supporting an anti-eco-terrorism bill (H.R. 3307), introduced Oct. 16 by Rep. Chris Chocola (R-Ind.), according to NADA Newswire.
The legislation provides fines and possible imprisonment for intentional damage to "the
property of another with the intent to influence the public with regard to conduct the offender considers harmful to the environment."
Several dealerships have already been victimized by eco-terrorists who want to halt the sale of SUVs. "Initially we were concerned with the fact that the penalties in the bill are less stringent than existing federal law," said Tom Greene, chief operating officer, NADA Legislative Affairs. "But the Congressman and his staff have agreed to work with us to assure that existing law is strengthened."
NADA said it will actively seek cosponsors and
otherwise assist in seeing that the bill is passed, according to NADA Newswire.
