WASHINGTON — A report issued by House Republicans on the Energy and Commerce Committee Tuesday claims that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) failed to share information about faulty ignition switches on General Motors vehicles, the Associated Press reports.
According to the report, the NHTSA received consumer complaints about faculty switches on GM vehicles for years, but failed to launch a recall investigation. The agency also allegedly based its assessment of related airbag issues on outdated knowledge of older systems.
