COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Ohio Attorney General Jim Petro filed suit against service contract provider Platinum Warranty Corp., announced the attorney general's office. Over 140 consumers in Ohio and other states claim the Cleveland-based company failed to honor its auto warranties or refund consumers' money.
The suit alleges that such practices violate the Ohio Consumer Sales Practices Act and the federal Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act. It seeks consumer restitution and civil penalties of $25,000 per violation.
