Scott Kolb Awarded CAI Designation

The Auction Marketing Institute (AMI) has announced that Scott Kolb, CAI of Auction Broadcasting Company, LLC (Indianapolis, IN) has been awarded the Certified Auctioneers Institute (CAI) designation. The CAI designation is an executive education program designed for decision-makers in auction firms and is earned and maintained by meeting the standards set by the Auction Marketing Institute. This intensive designation program offered by AMI at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana, involves three one-week executive education programs over a two-year period.


The company says auctioneers must qualify through experience and education for admission to the CAI program. In order to earn the designation, auctioneers must complete all three phases of the program, pass examinations and prepare an acceptable auction summary report. Maintaining the designation requires membership in good standing of the Auction Marketing Institute, National Auctioneers Association and completion of at least 24 hours of continuing education every three years.

Designed to educate and train practicing auctioneers in ways to improve their auction business, the curriculum includes courses in finance, sales, strategic planning, marketing, negotiations, legal aspects of auctioneering, personal business development, communications and technology. Faculty for the program are selected from the Indiana University College of Business, professionals who serve the auction industry and nationally recognized auctioneers.


Kolb is one of 828 auctioneers throughout the United States and Canada that currently hold the CAI designation. AMI, headquartered in Overland Park, KS has coordinated higher education programs for auctioneers and other auction professionals for over 27 years. In addition to the CAI designation, AMI also offers other designations, including programs in appraisal, auction administration, auction management and real estate.


AMI says its programs are designed to educate and train auction, appraisal, real estate and other professionals in ways to enhance their services to clients and customers.
