United Development Systems, Inc., of Clearwater, Fla., has launched its sales consultant training program, UDS SalesPro™. After more than 20 quality years of providing F&I training, UDS says it has "addressed the need for sales consultant training -- and answered with authority," according to a prepared statement from the company.

Beginning January 13-14, 2004, UDS said SalesPro™ “will offer dealerships the ability to abandon the outdated methods of training new sales staff.” According to the company, “UDS SalesPro™ was developed by seasoned veterans to cover all the important components necessary to return skilled participants to the dealership -- ready to sell.”

“One of the real tragedies in our industry is the method by which we treat the young people who try to break into our business,” said Dave Sipus, UDS director of training. “We paint pictures of six-figure incomes, a nice work environment, and the other perks -- but we do not, in most cases, teach them the skills to garner these benefits. UDS SalesPro™ will lay the foundation for long term success.”

According to Sipus, the two-day training program “will cover the selling process from start to finish -- and beyond.” Some of the topics to be addressed are proper greetings, effective demo drives, consistent service walks, and a follow-up method that produces results.

“UDS SalesPro™ has been designed to give new automotive sales consultants a chance at succeeding, where, historically, 80 percent fail,” Sipus said.
