Ugly Duckling Goes Private Again
Officers of Ugly Duckling, a used-car chain that targets people with credit problems, say that by taking the company private, they will be able to focus on its business plan and not worry about meeting the quarterly earnings demands of investors, according to a USA Today story by Earle Eldridge.
The company, public since 1996, announced
last week that it had again become a private enterprise.
Steven Darak, the CFO of Ugly Duckling, said the company has been on a "tremendous roller
coaster" since it went public. According to Darak, Wall Street never appreciated the
company's business model, and because of that, the stock price suffered.
