The Dealer Services Group of Automatic Data Processing, Inc. (ADP) announced Jan. 7 the installation completion of their Application Service Provider (ASP) solution in nine Volvo Truck locations throughout the country.

In addition to providing automotive retailers with a new technology program that provides a

suite of automotive applications and Internet access, ADP's ASP solution also delivers sales, service, parts and business programs to truck dealers and vehicle manufacturers throughout North America.

The nine Volvo Truck locations are being supported by a service dedicated connection directly from the ADP data center in Chicago,

Ill.

According to Volvo, in order to improve the consistency of their financial and

operational reporting from branch locations, they placed their eight different dealer development sites onto ADP's ASP solution.

Volvo wanted to streamline and standardize the management systems in their stores, yet have the flexibility to grow as new locations were

added without a huge investment up front to help control their total technology costs.

"We have been extremely pleased with our choice of systems for the Volvo branches," said Jack A. Yarbrough, controller of Volvo Trucks North America. "We were looking to improve several areas of information management within our locations. When all is said and done, the ADP team carried through on all of their promises."

"We are very excited to be able to offer our ASP solution to Volvo Truck," said Dan McCray, vice president of ASP & Next Generation product marketing for ADP Dealer Services. "One of the distinct benefits for those using ADP's ASP solution is for a manufacturer to receive consistent and cohesive information from its branch locations. It is much easier to standardize the use of business applications through ADP's ASP solution single location,

single server model, than trying to capture and convert data from multiple dealership systems across the country."

"We have been providing innovative services and solutions for Volvo Truck North America for many years now, and again our technology

leadership in the ASP model proved to be the right technology option they needed," said Jim Finn, vice president of sales for ADP Dealer Services' Team Truck "We know that with ADP's ASP, we can provide Volvo with a comprehensive and flexible solution to fit their information technology needs."

The original contract for the installation of ADP's ASP solution was signed in April 2001 and by October all eight dealer development

locations and the Volvo Truck headquarters located in Greensboro, North Carolina, were all connected to ADP's Data Center in Chicago.

"We are very pleased to announce an additional location -- Volvo Truck has also selected ADP's ASP as the technology solution for their new Montreal Volvo Truck operations and they too will be serviced out of the Chicago data center," said Bob Karp, senior vice president for ASP and e-commerce for ADP Dealer Services. "ADP's ASP solution is truly, without question, the industry leader in providing a full offsite suite of dealer management system applications for both truck and automotive industries in North America."
