General Motors President, CEO, and Board Chairman-elect G. Richard Wagoner, Jr. will deliver the keynote address at the 14th Annual General Motors Minority Dealers Association (GMMDA) Scholarship & Awards Banquet on January 31st at the Hyatt Regency, Embarcadero Center in San Francisco, Calif. GMMDA will host the banquet at the conclusion of the 2003 GM Winter PEP Conference.
According to GM, the banquet is titled: “Building Bridges to Success” and is a celebration of the association’s accomplishments and successes over the past year. GMMDA will announce the recipients of the 2003 GMMDA Minority Scholarship Awards and present the 2003 GMMDA Trailblazer Award.
“We are pleased to host the banquet for the 14th year,” said Gregory Jackson, GMMDA president. “We are celebrating our success as an association. We are also celebrating another year of supporting deserving minority students as they pursue their education goals.”
“We feel honored to have Mr. Wagoner as the keynote speaker for our banquet this year,” said Desmond Roberts, GMMDA 1st vice-president and banquet chairperson. “He has an excellent reputation and plays an extremely important role at General Motors. We appreciate his support of the minority dealer network.”
Wagoner has been instrumental in supporting the minority dealer development program. He was recently acknowledged in Automotive News as one of the top Newsmakers of 2002 for his aggressive efforts to boost GM market share. Wagoner will become Chairman of the GM Board of Directors in May, according to the company.
