Web Poll Shows What Is ‘Scary’ to Car Buyers

RICHMOND, Va. -- In the spirit of Halloween, CarMax conducted a Web poll that asked consumers about the scariest thing car salespeople have done to them. Out of 2,466 respondents, 73 percent said one of the following things had been done to them.

RICHMOND, Va. -- In the spirit of Halloween, CarMax conducted a Web poll that asked consumers about the scariest thing car salespeople have done to them. Out of 2,466 respondents, 73 percent said one of the following things had been done to them:

Changed my finance rate or term without my knowledge (26 percent/642 respondents)
Charged me fees I didn’t understand (19 percent/473 respondents)
Did a credit check without my knowledge (16 percent/401 respondents)
Lost my keys (6 percent/149 respondents)
Told me he would lose his job if he lost me as a customer (6 percent/139 respondents)
