Amazon is continuing its growth as the company moves into the autmotive sector. Amazon and GM originally partnered up in 2018 and offered "Key by Amazon" in-car delivery services for Cadillac, Chevrolet, Buick and GMC. The companies have recently announced a partnership that inlcudes Amazon Alexa's in-home voice assist inside your GM. The feature is available in models from the 2018 line, or newer, that inlucde the Infotainment 3 in-dash system and access to GM's 4G LTE network.

"This system opens the doors to new ways to utiize features such as navigation, audio and communication capabilities."

Last month at the Seattle Amazon HQ, a technician installed the system in a Buick Encore GX and demontrated its ability to navigate to a specific address using the original GPS system. Drivers can also play music and audiobooks through GM's infotainment sytem as well as make Bletooth phone calls.

This system opens the doors to new ways to utiize features such as navigation, audio and communication capabilities. Not only can you control your vehicle, but the Amazon Alexa system also allows you to do everything you would at home including light control, thermostat changes and online shopping.

All 2020 model-year GMs will have Amazon Alexa included and those with a '18 or '19 year vehicle can download the new system via a free, over-the-air update.
