AutoNation, Inc., which bills itself as "America's largest automotive retailer on and off the Web," has promoted Allan Stejskal to the new position of chief information officer.
Stejskal had served previously as AutoNation's senior vice president of e-commerce. In his new, expanded role, Stejskal will continue to oversee the company's e-commerce operations and report to Michael E. Maroone, AutoNation's president and chief operating officer, while simultaneously leading the company's Information Technology group. On IT issues, Stejskal will report to Craig T. Monaghan, AutoNation's chief financial officer and senior vice president.
"Allan's e-Commerce group helped our stores achieve a record $1.5 billion in vehicle sales via the Internet last year," said Mike Jackswon, AutoNatin's CEO. "They also expanded our online capabilities this year through a new, strategic relationship with the Web's
most popular car-shopping site, MSN Carpoint. Now, as chief information officer, we can expect
Allan to use technology again, along with our industry-leading scale, to create new competitive advantages for AutoNation."
Stejskal, who will also hold the title of senior vice president, joined AutoNation in 2000 after leading automotive e-commerce efforts at Automatic Data Processing, Inc. (ADP). As vice president, Dealer Services
Division, Stejskal led the creation of such Web sites as myautogarage.com, a portal for vehicle service customers that ADP established with IBM Corp., and DealerSuite.com, an automotive retail portal.
Stejskal holds a bachelor's degree in industrial and operations engineering from the University of Michigan and a master's in business administration from Harvard University.
