A federal magistrate is recommending dismissal of a lawsuit filed by a dealer in 2003 against DaimlerChrysler Services, reported Automotive News.
Gerald Gorman, owner of Dodge of Midlothian and Marquette Chrysler-Jeep in the Chicago area, alleged financial damage due to discriminatory lending practices by DaimlerChrysler Services North America LLC.
The lawsuit claimed that DaimlerChrysler Services altered an automated computer program designed to evaluate customers’ credit applications objectively.
The magistrate in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois recommended that the judge grand DaimlerChrysler’s request to dismiss the case. According to Automotive News, the magistrate’s opinion said, "Mr. Gorman made false statements," in a court affidavit filed in 2003 and "either lied or misled Chrysler during (legal) discovery."
