NABD to Host Fourth Annual BHPH Underwriting & Collection Conference

HOUSTON – The National Alliance of Buy Here, Pay Here Dealers (NABD) will hold its “Fourth Annual Buy-Here, Pay-Here Underwriting & Collections Conference” in Dallas, Texas, on Nov. 7-9, 2010.

More than 500 attendees are expected to attend this three-day event, which will feature separate training tracks on both underwriting and collections. “Interest in the buy-here, pay-here industry has never been greater and operators are entering the industry in record numbers. This conference focuses on the two most critical elements of BHPH operations,” said Kenneth Shilson, CPA and founder of NABD Shilson.

The conference program features role playing and other interactive training techniques for attendees. The underwriting sessions will include advanced tips and techniques on underwriting, evaluating credit, contracting, and closing the deal. The collections track will focus on organization, best policies and practices, and collecting payments legally and efficiently.

“We have added several new speakers this year, including some of the nation’s best operators and experts who will share their secrets for success. Attendees will learn from operators who are successful in the business and not just from consultants. All the important aspects of both underwriting and collections will be covered during the program,” Shilson said.

The conference will also feature a Q-and-A session on the latest regulatory and compliance matters with attorney Tom Hudson. There will also be an automotive bankruptcy expert who will explain how to handle bankruptcies and other special situations, including leasing.

The education sessions feature concurrent tracks and all presentations will include an operator’s perspective. These sessions will cover subjects like: payment devices, dealer management software, add-on products, portfolio analysis, benchmarks, monitoring collections and raising capital, predictive dialers, pay plans, leasing, credit evaluation and customer stipulations, bankruptcy and special situations.

The conference will be held at the Hyatt Regency DFW Airport Hotel. NABD has arranged discounted $119-per-night room rates, and the Sunday through Tuesday format minimizes the time attendees must be away from their respective operations. The program includes two receptions and a luncheon inside a large exhibit hall which will facilitate networking. The sessions will conclude on Tuesday afternoon to facilitate return travel.
