EUGENE, Ore. -- Three lawsuits filed in the U.S. District Court in Eugene, Ore., accuse Lithia Motors of falsifying car buyers' information on loan applications.
According to The Register-Guard, the lawsuits, filed in the past eight months, allege that dealership employees convinced customers to buy used cars at unreasonably high prices. Employees would then inflate the buyers' income on loan applications to get them bigger loans. Employees were also accused of inflating the vehicles' values by listing add-ons in the paperwork that weren't actually there. The consumers claim their applications falsely included rear air conditioning, power windows, cruise control and more, according to court records.
