A Hyundai SUV snagged a top safety rating after it updated its rear seat belts.
The 2024 Tuscon received the Top Safety Pick + award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, the nonprofit group’s highest rating.
The vehicle underwent several crash tests, including an updated side test, garnering good ratings, including for its front crash prevention system, which comes standard on the vehicle.
The organization rated the small SUV’s headlights, a key consideration in the testing, as acceptable.
Hyundai updated the Tuscon’s rear seat belts in March, pushing it over the threshold to receive the rating from its performance in a crash test examining how second-row passengers are protected in a collision.
