SUVs Recalled Over Crash Risk
Toyota says software error can lead to increased stopping distance in certain scenario.

A software programming error presents the possibility that brake fluid pressure control doesn’t work as designed during cornering.
Toyota
Toyota recalled more than 42,000 Corolla Cross Hybrids that can experience loss of power brake assist when turning a corner.
Drivers of the 2023 and 2024 versions of the subcompact SUV can experience a “hard” brake pedal and reduced brake force, resulting in longer than expected stopping distance and potential increased crash risk, Toyota said in a recall notice.
The root issue centers on skid-control software in the brake actuator assembly sourced from Bosch. A programming error presents the possibility that brake fluid pressure control doesn’t work as designed during cornering.
Toyota said it was working to determine whether it might also occur in other models with similar software.
Recall notices are scheduled to be mailed to owners on Nov. 5.
