Chevrolet is surpassing competitors when it comes to U.S. electric-vehicle sales growth, according to energy news site Electrek.

The General Motors brand is leading the Detroit automaker in the EV dominance push with its electrified Equinox crossover SUV, whose deliveries rose an eye-popping 85% in the fourth quarter, according to Electreck, which said GM’s overall EV sales jumped 50% in the quarter to about a 13% U.S. market share.

In fact, GM surpassed Ford in U.S. EV sales in the last half of the year to take the No. 2 spot behind market leader Tesla, according to the news site.

The Texas-based EV maker’s lead has been weakening and fell from 56% to 50% this year, according to Electreck, which said GM claims to be the fastest-growing high-volume EV maker in the states.

Tesla sales have been declining even in California, which leads the country in EV registrations. Its Golden State deliveries fell 15% in the first quarter, marking a sixth straight quarter of declines, according to the state auto dealers association.

Chevrolet calls its electric Equinox “America’s most affordable 315+ mile range EV.” The SUV’s LT1 trim starts at $33,600.
