Costco, GM Team Up on Holiday Promotion
For the third year in a row, Costco is teaming with General Motors on a winter Holiday Sales Event that will offer members saving on Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac vehicles. The event runs from Oct. 2 through Jan. 4, 2016
SAN DIEGO, Calif. — For the third year in a row, Costco and General Motors are teaming up on a winter Holiday Sales Event promotion, with the automaker offering savings and benefits to Costco members on Chevrolet, Buick GMC and Cadillac vehicles.
Beginning Oct. 2 and running through Jan. 4, 2016, registered Costco members will receive GM Supplier Pricing and other benefits on several 2015 and 2016 model-year vehicles. Costco is projecting a 20% growth in vehicle sales compared with last year.
During last year’s promotion, the program realized a 69% closing rate, with 43,400 vehicles sold, according to Costco. That was more than doubled the program's output in 2013. Trucks represented the 39% of all sales, with 17,000 Chevrolet Silverados and GMC Sierras sold during last year's promotion.
“Increasing consumer confidence coupled with falling gas prices last year helped crossovers, trucks and SUVs trend higher in 2014,” said John Conlon, Costco Services director. “So it’s no surprise that our special offer reflected the same results.”
In additional to supplier discounts, Costco's Executive Members will receive a $700 Costco Cash Card, while Gold Star and Business Members will receive a $300 Costco Cash Card. Gold Star and Business Members can also receive an additional $400 Costco Cash Card if they upgrade to Executive Membership.
The Costco Auto Program is designed to streamline the buying experience for Costco members through its network of more than 3,000 dealerships nationwide. The program also provides Costco members with online tools to research and compare vehicles, locate a participating dealer, and make a purchase at a prearranged price with member advocates supporting the members throughout the purchase process.
