CHESTERFIELD, Mo. -- Protective’s Asset Protective Division has upgraded its existing marine and powersports programs to provide broader coverage for consumers.

The FPC Premium Marine Protection service contract plan offered by Protective’s Marine Group has increased its new watercraft coverage term options from six to eight years. For pre-owned watercraft, extended model year eligibility now includes current and ten previous model years. Enhanced pre-owned coverage terms are now one-, two- or three-year terms for boats that are current and ten previous model years.

“These benefits have been developed to offer consumers more value when buying a new or pre-owned boat,” said Christopher Bernish, vice president, FPC Dealer Sales.“Our coverage enhancements are solid additions to our core service contract and accessory programs.

Protective has also added a tire and wheel program for watercraft trailers and tow vehicles, as well as accessory programs, “Sailor’s Choice” for the sailboat market and “Pontoon PAC” for the pontoon market.

Protective’s Powersports Group has also upgraded its XtraRide Powersports service contract plan by providing broader coverage for consumers purchasing powersports products.

A new on-road motorcycle with a one-year factory warranty is now eligible for up to 60 months of coverage, and two-year factory warranty plans are eligible for up to 72 months of coverage. Eligibility requirements for pre-owned on road motorcycles has been updated to current and 10 previous model years with a maximum of 50,000 miles at point of sales.

For mopeds and scooters, the class codes now include models up to 750 cc’s. Originally, the coverage level was up to 250 cc’s.

The tire and wheel program has been revised to a replacement style program with no pro-ration, and a maximum term of 72 months.

Coverage options for UTV’s and Trikes are now available, and equal to the coverage levels of ATV’s and on-road motorcycles.

“These benefits have been developed to offer consumers more value when buying a powersport asset and are designed to compliment manufacturer warranty programs,” Bernish said. “Our goal is to enhance current programs and these coverage extensions are solid additions to our core programs.”
