Nissan and Renault are close to unveiling a potential restructured alliance as they continue negotiations, Reuters reported.
The two automakers could announce a deal next month, several people close to the negotiations told the news agency.
Renault Chairman Jean-Dominique Senard expressed confidence this week that the company and Nissan will reach an agreement.
In the ongoing talks, Renault is aiming for Nissan to invest in its electric vehicle business, and Nissan wants Renault to sell part of its approximately 43% stake in Nissan to give the latter more equal footing, Reuters has reported. The latter negotiation item has long been a sticking point between the two. Nissan has a 15% stake in Renault and no voting rights.
