DaimlerChrysler AG's Chrysler arm recalled over 326,000 pickups and Durango SUVs on Tuesday. On the same day, the Mercedes-Benz unit recalled about 680,000 E-class and SL-class vehicles worldwide because of potential brake problems.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said 320,188 Durango and Dakota models had front windshield wiper units that could suffer water intrusion, corrosion and failure, reported Reuters. The recalled models included 2002 to 2003 Durango SUVs and 2002 to 2004 Dakotas, said NHTSA.
Also, 6,183 Dodge Ram 1500 and 2500 pickups were recalled because of errors in their vehicle certification labels. The tire, wheel and recommended inflation pressure information on some vehicles was incorrect, NHTSA said.
The potential problem with the Mercedes vehicles has to do with the Sensotronic Brake Control system, according to the Associated Press. The recall applies to E-class limos built after March 2002, T model cars built after March 2003 and SL-class vehicles made after October 2001, said Mercedes. It affects vehicles worldwide, including 225,000 in Germany.
