Ford dealers are expected to increase retail sales by as much as 15 percent within two years. Executives with Ford Division said this is a realistic target given the auto manufacturer´s six new or updated vehicles and agressive advertising.

While some dealers find this to be a manageable goal, others are uncertain it will be attainable, reported Automotive News. From 1999 to 2003, Ford Division´s U.S. sales have dropped 15.5 percent.

Bob Jorgensen, president of Kistler Ford in Toledo, Ohio, told the paper he has confidence in his business and said sales are already up 10-15 percent in the last four months.

He told Automotive News his dealership´s increased sales are attributed to the Five Hundred sedan and Freestyle sport wagon as well as the updated Mustang and F-series Super Duty pickup.

Ford sold 2,886,575 cars and trucks in the United States in 2003.
