The California New Car Dealers Association (CNCDA) is seeking a state investigation with the California Dept. of Motor Vehicles into Tesla advertisements, according to a report from the San Francisco Chronicle. Tesla, the association claims, makes "unsubstantiated and illegal savings claims."

The CNCDA told the news outlet in an e-mail that Tesla told customers they "can take advantage of multiple incentives, gas savings and tax savings resulting in low monthly vehicle payments, when it is unlikely that customers will actually realize such savings."
