TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Auto Data Direct is now offering vehicle history reports issued by the National Motor Vehicle Title Information System (NMVTIS), a connection the company made to help California dealer comply with a new law.

As of this month, all California dealers who sell used cars are now required to obtain a vehicle history report from the NMVTIS for every used car on their lot, and post a red warning label on the vehicle if a title brand or salvage history is found. Auto Data Direct Inc. is now working to make pulling the report a simple process.

The NMVTIS database is a U.S. Department of Justice information system that contains automobile information from states DMVs, insurance carriers and the salvage industry. ADD has partnered with ten dealer management software companies who offer a seamless way for dealers to access NMVTIS vehicle history reports through their existing business systems and processes.

"ADD's unique web-based system has already helped thousands of dealers access NMVTIS reports, pulling records as individual businesses or through dealer management systems," said Jim Taylor, ADD president. "Our goal has been to provide efficient options for access to NMVTIS reports, meeting the new California consumer protection requirement and keeping compliance easy and affordable for the dealer community."
