COSTA MESA — Creating a vehicle ownership experience — including appearance, sales, service, initial quality, and long-term reality — is the objective of every car company. And now there’s an award recognizing the automakers who do it the best.

Today, J.D. Power announced that Buick and Porsche are the winners of the inaugural J.D. Total Ownership Experience Awards in the mass market and luxury categories, respectively. The market research firm used results from its five iconic automotive studies to determine which automakers do the best job overall of satisfying customers through the different stages of vehicle ownership.

The five studies referenced include the company’s Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL); Customer Service Index (CSI); Initial Quality Study (IQS), Sales Satisfaction Index (SSI); and Vehicle Dependability Study (VDS).

“J.D. Power has prided itself on being the voice of the automotive consumer for 50 years and we continue to examine every aspect of customers’ opinions on vehicle sales, quality, and dependability, as well as dealership customer service,” said Doug Betts, senior vice president of global automotive at J.D. Power. “Addressing these areas effectively creates repeat buyers and brand advocates, so it’s important for manufacturers and dealers to listen, learn and continue to evolve with the times.”
