Manheim Auctions has announced management changes at the corporate level and at two Michigan auctions.

Morris, Mich., has been promoted to group operations vice president, Southwest. He succeeds Mike Broe, who recently was promoted to vice president of career development and human resources.

“Mike McKinney’s knowledge of the auction business and his proven leadership abilities will be valuable assets to Manheim as he oversees the operations of our auctions in the Southwest,” said Jamie Porter, executive vice president of operations.

Joe Maltese, auction manager of Metro Detroit Auto Auction, will assume day-to-day operating responsibilities for the auction. Victor Ferlaino, recon operations manager, has been promoted to assistant general manager of the auction. Eric Wagner, formerly assistant general manager of Metro Detroit, has been named auction manager of Michigan Auto Auction.

Mike McKinney has been with Manheim since October 1993. At the time, he was fleet/lease manager at Atlanta Auto Auction, and he brought with him eight years of experience in the automobile business. In August 1997, McKinney was promoted to assistant general manager of Kansas City Auto Auction in Kansas City, Mo. He served in that position until being named general manager of Metro Detroit Auto Auction and Michigan Auto Auction in January 1999.

Joe Maltese has been auction manager of Metro Detroit Auto Auction since 1997. Prior to that he served as assistant general manager of the auction for five years. Before joining Manheim, Maltese spent two decades in various management positions at APTCO Auto Auction, first as a family run auction and then as part of a chain. That auction now is Manheim’s Detroit Auto Auction in Taylor, Mich.

Victor Ferlaino joined Manheim in 1996 as body shop manager at Statesville Auto Auction in Statesville, N.C., bringing 12 years of body shop experience with him. In 1998, he transferred to Metro Detroit Auto Auction as recon operations manager, a position he has held until being named assistant general manager of Metro Detroit.

Eric Wagner has been with Manheim since 1986, when he joined Imperial Auto Auction in Lakeland, Fla., as customer relations manager. He served in various management positions at Imperial before being named factory manager at Atlanta Auto Auction in 1992. Four years later, Wagner returned to Imperial Auto Auction as fleet/lease manager to establish and build the fleet/lease business. In 1999, he became fleet/lease manager of Metro Detroit Auto Auction, a position he held for a year before being named assistant general manager of the auction.
