Subaru of America’s Vice President of Fixed Operations Jim Pernas is set to retire in July, and his successor will hold the title of vice president of loyalty and aftersales in a company refocus.

Pernas began his career at Subaru nearly 40 years ago and has held multiple leadership roles across the country, the automaker said, including positions at Subaru’s headquarters in Camden, N.J. It said his contributions “ helped shape the company’s success, all while he consistently led by example as a trusted leader, valued resource, and mentor to colleagues.”

His replacement, Todd Lawrence, has worked for Subaru since 1999 in various roles across the U.S. and Japan. Subaru said he will “lead the automaker’s efforts to strengthen service and future-purchase loyalty while continuing to grow parts and accessory sales.”

The department's evolution is meant to reflect “the automaker’s growing emphasis on enhancing the ownership experience” and supporting its owner loyalty program, which includes various discounts, financial programs and more.

“Jim has embodied our Love Promise values, and his leadership has played a meaningful role in our success,” said subsidiary President and Chief Operating Officer Jeff Walters.

“As Todd now takes the reins of this critical department, we are confident that our best-in-class owner loyalty program will continue to thrive under his leadership.”
