Ford recalled approximately 1.9 million Explorer sports-utility vehicles over a detached trim piece that could pose a road hazard.

The recall affects 2011 to 2019 models, whose A-pillar trim retention clips may not be securely attached, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Dealerships will replace the trim as needed free of charge.

Notices are scheduled to be mailed to owners on March 13, NHTSA said.

Kia SUVs Recalled

Meanwhile, Kia recalled some 101,000 units combined of two SUVs for a roof molding issue that could cause the molding to come off, also potentially presenting a road hazard.

The 2022-2024 Carnival and the 2023-24 Sportage are included in the recall.

Dealers will inspect the molding and secure or replace it as needed free of charge, said a recall summary on the NHTSA website.
