Manheim Auctions recently celebrated the inaugural heavy-duty truck sale at its Fort Worth Vehicle Auction in Fort Worth, Texas.

More than 100 trucks were sold at the event on Feb. 28, a sale that marked the beginning of an expanding program of such sales. The facility is specially equipped to handle heavy-duty truck sales, with two of the six lanes built large enough to accommodate heavy trucks, and plans are to hold sales monthly.

“We are very excited that the first heavy truck sale at Fort Worth was such a success,” said Todd Mathis, Fort Worth Vehicle Auction general manager. “We have worked very hard at reconditioning the trucks to offer only the best to our customers, and we will continue working to ensure the Fort Worth heavy truck sale is unmatched by any other.”

Manheim’s Fort Wayne Vehicle Auction is currently the largest heavy-duty truck auction in North America, hosting two sales per month. The heavy-duty truck sales in Fort Wayne will serve as a model of success for other auctions as Manheim expands its heavy truck segment.

“We are pleased with the development of the heavy-duty truck program at Fort Worth,” said John Gresley, Fort Wayne Vehicle Auction general manager. “Both auctions are part of the same team at Manheim, and we will work together to find opportunities in Fort Worth for their continued success.”

Manheim Auctions is establishing additional heavy-duty truck auction locations in Orlando and Las Vegas, for a total of four truck sale programs by the middle of 2001.

“Manheim Auctions is making a bid for leadership in the heavy-duty truck segment by responding to the needs of truck dealers for quality service at stationary auction facilities week in and week out,” said Michael Lasini, Manheim’s vice president of sales. “We view the heavy truck segment as a very promising industry in which we plan to become a long-term player.”
