Hyundai recalled an SUV that could roll away, despite being in park.
The South Korean automaker recalled more than 12,000 of the 2024 Santa Fe, blaming a software error in the transmission control unit that can cause rolling when the vehicle is parked.
The brand is warning owners to engage the emergency brake when parking the vehicles until they’re repaired.
It said Hyundai dealers will update the transmission software, in addition to inspecting and replacing the dual clutch transmission if needed.
Hyundai is scheduled to mail notification letters to owners on Sept. 9.
