CANTON, Mass. — Law enforcement officials recovered more than $83.5 million in stolen vehicles equipped with the LoJack Stolen Vehicle Recovery System in 2014, according to LoJack's sixth annual Vehicle Theft Recovery Report.

The Honda Civic ranked as the most stolen and recovered vehicle equipped with a LoJack System, and the average value of vehicles recovered by law enforcement is more than $10,000. The report also shows that for the sixth consecutive year, California, Texas and Florida continue to top the list as the top three states respectively with the most LoJack system-equipped stolen and recovered vehicles.

Oregon, Washington D.C., Maryland, South Carolina and Oklahoma, all new to the 2014 report, experienced significant increases in the number of LoJack System-equipped stolen and recovered vehicles.

The following were the top 10 most stolen and recovered LoJack system-equipped vehicle models in 2014:

4. Toyota Corolla

5. Chevrolet Silverado

6. Ford F250 Pickup

7. Acura Integra

8. BMW 3 Series

9. Cadillac Escalade

10. Nissan Maxima

"Auto theft techniques have changed in recent years, with thieves becoming more sophisticated and targeted in their approach, and in fact, according to the FBI, billions of dollars were lost as a result of auto theft in 2013," said Pat Clancy, vice president of Law Enforcement for LoJack Corporation. "The good news is that as thieves get smarter, so do the good guys. In 2014, law enforcement officials across the country recovered more than 90% of all cars, trucks and SUVs equipped with the LoJack System. That includes the recovery of more than $83.5 million in stolen vehicles, once again proving that the LoJack System is an effective tool in combating vehicle theft."

The report also noted that there was an 88% increase in hybrids stolen and recovered from 2013 to 2014. And the most common colors stolen and recovered were black, white, gray, silver, and blue, respectively.
